Problems Washing New Fabrics

Hi! Whenever I buy a new fabric for sewing, I wash it once before using it. I run it through a short wash cycle at 30°C on the delicate setting.
It’s happened to me quite a few times now that the fabric frays at the edges afterward. It really annoys me every time! :-/
Do you have any idea what might be causing this? Maybe the spin speed?
How do you pre-wash your new fabrics?

Washing the fabric in a linen bag and finishing the edges before washing should help alleviate your problem. :- )
