Problems with changing colors

Hi! I’m having trouble changing colors… so here’s my question for you:

How do I go about it when I want to continue crocheting with a new color?

So far, I’ve always made a loop with the new yarn, pulled it through the previous loop, and tied the two short ends together. But I’m not happy with the result—it doesn’t look nice, and unfortunately, it’s happened a few times that the knots have come undone and ruined my work.

I’d really appreciate any helpful tips from you all!

take a look here—it’s an English tutorial, but the pictures explain it well.
You crochet over the loose ends of the previous color and the short end of the new color for a few stitches, so they’re securely fastened and can be cut off without any problems. ;)

I do it the same way as OmisHaekelstuebchen. However, I don’t crochet both threads in together; instead, in the current row I crochet in the thread of the old color, and in the next row I crochet in the thread of the new color. It holds really well; nothing has come undone for me so far, and it looks neat because you don’t get those thick knots.
