Nice, even edges?!

Hi, everyone!
Maybe you’re familiar with this problem:
The stitches at the edges—next to the edge stitches—often seem very uneven to me. In one row they’re too loose, and in the next they’re too tight...
It’s usually even more noticeable on the left edge than on the right...

Can anyone tell me why this happens? I’d really appreciate it! :-)
