Dear knitters, do you have a trick for preventing the first knit stitch after the purl stitches in rib patterns (k1, p1; k2, p2) from always becoming wider than the second one?

Christina, you could knit them through the back loop. In a rib pattern, twisted stitches look very pretty and neat.
I like to knit rib patterns in k2, p1. At least for me, that turns out very neat and is somehow sturdier.

I would also knit the knit stitch through the back loop. I always do that with the chain selvedge, too, because “regular” knit stitches there always end up too loose for me.
