Hi Tinawuertl,
Welcome to our forum and to the Crazypatterns portal. The experts here will definitely be able to help you. If you’re patient, you’re sure to get some good tips.
R0
Chain 25 + 1 turning chain
R1
24 single crochets (just 1 single crochet in each chain stitch), 3 single crochets in the last chain stitch, which makes the first curve
- now continue crocheting along the underside of the chain, 1 single crochet in each chain stitch
and 2 single crochets in the last chain stitch (the last chain stitch is the one where you made your first single crochet
Starting from R2
just like with a circle, you also need to increase 6 stitches in each round; for a circle, this is done at regular intervals
for an oval, the increases are made in the curves, so increase by 3 single crochets per curve
*************
Does that help? Or do you need it in more detail?
*************
In any case, this is how you crochet the oval base until it has the right length and width
then you just crochet upwards without increasing or decreasing any stitches
Choose your yarn carefully and use a crochet hook that isn’t too large so it will be nice and sturdy
Thank you so much for the answers. I’ll give it another try now. My baskets turn out very small, so I’ll reduce the number of chain stitches accordingly. :-)
