I need help reading a pattern!!!

Hi everyone!

I’m still pretty new to crochet and am currently crocheting stuffed animals using Kerry Lord’s pattern. Right now I’m trying to crochet a sheep’s head, but I don’t understand the pattern... It says: Round 12: 2 sc dark, 2 sc, 2 sc together, 2 sc yellow, 4 sc, 2 together, (5 sc, 2 sc together 4× dark (36 total).
I’m totally confused… 2 sc in dark, then another 2 sc? Why doesn’t it just say 4 sc? It also doesn’t work out if I just make 4 sc…
Can someone help me solve this mystery?

HUHU, now I’m confused ... “dark”? “gell”? --> autocorrect?

Could you please write it out correctly again? Then it’ll be easier for people to help you, or you could message Kerry Lord.

Best regards

Sorry, it’s easy to mistype on a smartphone… of course, it’s supposed to say “light”…
The sheep itself is made of dark wool and has a light blaze.
Best regards

Hello Idolanec,

You crochet:

2 sc dark in one stitch - (2 sc)
1 sc in the next 2 stitches (2 sc)
crochet 2 sc together (1 sc) NOW CHANGE COLOR
2 sc light in one stitch (2 sc)
1 sc in the next 4 stitches (4 sc)
crochet 2 sc together (1 sc) NOW CHANGE COLOR
(5 sc in the next 5 stitches, crochet 2 sc together (6 sc) repeat this 3 more times (18 sc)

I wrote the crocheted stitches in parentheses. That makes a total of 36 stitches.

I hope that is understandable.
Best regards, Petra

Thank you so much, Petra!!!

I’ll try this out later today and get back to you if I can’t figure it out :-)

Best regards, Lena

Hi Lena,
I’d be happy to help. I know how frustrating it is when things don’t work out. But with a little patience, you’ll get it!
Best wishes, Petra

Hi Petra,

I think it doesn’t add up again... The previous round has 42 stitches. Round 12 is supposed to have 36 stitches in total. When you write 2 sc dark into one stitch, you mean an increase, right? But increases are usually marked as such... not here. Do you maybe have another idea? I’m going crazy with my half sheep’s head

Hi Lena,
that leaves me speechless, too. The description adds up to 36 stitches, in my opinion. Have you asked the designer yet? That seems like the most sensible thing to do.
Best wishes, Petra

Hi Lena,
if the previous round has 42 stitches, then you’ll end up with 36 stitches only if you crochet the single crochets one at a time into individual stitches and not multiple single crochets into one stitch.
Could it be that the color changes like this:
2 sc dark in 2 consecutive stitches

2 sc, 2 sc together, 2 sc — all in light

4 sc, 2 together, 4x (5 sc, 2 sc together) — all dark

Best regards,
Karin

Maybe there's simply a mistake in it... I would contact the designer. Otherwise, to help you further, if you could type out R11 to R15. Then we can get a better idea
