False double crochet—how do you do that, please? Help

Can someone please explain how to crochet a false double crochet at the beginning of a row?
I don't get it. Thanks a lot.

Hey... I'll send you a private message....

Basically, you make a long chain stitch, wrap it around the hook, and then crochet it like a double crochet... but the link in the private message will make it clearer.
