Hi there, Heike! The best way to do it is with fabric glue. Otherwise, try using wood glue—that works too, but unfortunately, the felt will get a little stiff.
Best wishes, Carola
Hi from Heike to Heike,
My tip would be double-sided iron-on interfacing—it’s often used for appliqué—or felt with an adhesive backing, which is also available. But for small pieces, it’s probably not worth it; fabric glue is definitely the most affordable option.

I’ve had very good results with fabric glue, and it holds up great. For example, I used it to attach the felt eyes to my gnomes. I haven’t washed it yet, but otherwise I highly recommend it.
I added a crocheted appliqué to a sweater for my son. I wanted to know if fabric glue works... The sweater has been worn a lot and washed just as often. The appliqué is slowly starting to come loose a bit. I’m surprised at how much the glue can actually withstand. :-)
Best regards, Rahel
