Forum Update - Signatures Are Now Available

a new version of our forum was released today. In addition to layout adjustments, the signature feature has been added. Each of you can add a signature in your own account.

when it comes to signatures, I don’t think links alone make much sense. A few kind words are usually more valuable. That’s just my personal opinion—not a rule or a requirement ;-)

Authors in particular could use this to add meaning to their own brand and effectively share it without any extra effort.

I tested it too... It would be cool if you could add some kind of banner, but I saw that you can’t upload images to your signature... that would be absolutely awesome :-)

Can I have one too, or is that only for sellers?

I think this applies to everyone. Go to your account, click on Settings, and then on Forum Settings—I think that’s what it’s called.

Great idea! I now have a signature too, and I immediately added the thread I created—specifically for crochet beginners—to my signature. That way, all crochet beginners can find it. :) Maybe more users will join the thread, and we’ll have a nice discussion and stuff. I’d love that.

and one more question right away. I’d rather have a nice sentence instead of the link. Can someone help me and tell me how to do that?

Sternenwelt... you write your sentence, then highlight it, click the link icon, and a small pop-up will open where you can enter the link.

Save it

and then your sentence will be highlighted in blue and turned into a hyperlink

Wow, I’d also like to say a big thank you.
I was a little jealous of you guys, but I didn’t want to ask because Josefa had already explained it once. But I didn’t quite get it back then—with all those characters and things you had to type, plus the link in between, and I don’t remember the rest.

No need to thank me... everyone has their strengths and weaknesses... I’m just a little more tech-savvy when it comes to computers, but I’m far from a pro. But I can handle a few little tweaks. After all, you can’t know or do everything.

The more posts you write in the public section of the forum, the more often your signature with the shop links will be displayed, and you can draw even more users’ attention to your
offerings here in the forum. --> So every post in the forum gives you an additional opportunity to promote your offerings.
I’d love for you to take advantage of this to make your offerings even better known. It would also be great if there could be more dialogue with users in the forum.

Signature Test

I can’t link to my shop in my signature. When I click the “Insert Link” button, the window opens and I can enter the link, but when I click OK, nothing happens.
What am I doing wrong?

First, type a few words in the text field, e.g., “Here’s the link to my shop” (or whatever you’d like), then use your mouse to highlight the exact words you want to link, and only then click the “Insert Link” button.
If you don’t highlight the text first, the system won’t know where to insert the link.

Thanks, I did it this way—I selected “Click here to go to the shop,” clicked the button, pasted the link, and then clicked OK. But then nothing happened—the little window won’t close and it isn’t saving. :(

Which browser are you using?
Could you try switching to a different browser for a moment and see if that works?

I would generally recommend Firefox or Chrome, not just for the signature feature.

Yes, Karin, unfortunately I also always have to switch to Chrome whenever I want to insert links or images.
