Slip stitches are super handy

I know the ladies are going to think this is totally cute again when I learn general knowledge—the kind everyone knows except me—from books.
But for some reason, I just hadn’t quite figured out the slip stitch for a long time—what it’s used for and all that. It’s actually really handy for avoiding those “steps” at the end of a row when you’re crocheting in the round.

In case there’s actually someone out there who doesn’t know how to do this yet:
you have a loop on your crochet hook, then pull the yarn (without wrapping it around the hook) through the next stitch and pull both strands through. Then the row is closed, and you haven’t created a “step.” If you want to keep crocheting, make one or two turning chain stitches and continue crocheting as usual.
If you don’t want to continue crocheting, pull the yarn through the last loop, cut it, and weave in the ends. And you’re done. Have fun with it.
