Mohair slipover

I'm crazy about knitting, but I haven't made anything in a long time. I'd like to knit
a slipover, and the pattern calls for mohair yarn. What can I use as an alternative? Pipo

I’d just use a yarn that can be knitted at the same weight/thickness (same yardage and same needle size).
It doesn’t really matter what type of yarn you choose.

As Marion already said, choose a comparable weight and yardage, and the information on the amount needed according to the yarn label should be similar if possible. If your personal gauge then also matches the gauge information in the existing pattern, the pattern can be used 1:1.

I now have a new idea for an alternative to mohair yarn. I’d like to try using bouclé yarn. What are the differences in yarn weight? I’m probably not using the right terms, but I like the style
of the slipover in my knitting pattern and I’d like it to look just like that—just not made of mohair. How do I go about doing this?

Bouclé yarn seems like a good alternative to mohair. But checking the gauge is still important, especially for items that need to fit well, like a sweater vest.
