New review campaign starting soon

Dear craft friends,

the new review campaign, in which downloaded patterns are to be reviewed, will start soon. We at Crazypatterns are asking our customers: What prizes / budgets would you like this time? Should it be store credit again, or would you prefer physical prizes?

We look forward to your feedback!

Here is the link to the previous, very successful campaign for the same occasion: Click here for the previous campaign!

Best regards
Elisabeth

Hi Elisabeth,
I’m in favor of store credit for the top 12 or so and physical prizes for the top 3. Maybe even the other way around. ;)
I can understand that designers would like to receive reviews. It makes sense to support that through a contest.

But I have a completely different contest idea. I’m not quite sure right now if this fits in this thread, but I’ll write it down anyway, or I’ll forget it again.

How about a creative contest of a completely different kind for a change?
We could ask the buyers which motifs they absolutely want to have as patterns. And if one of those ideas inspires a designer so much that they actually turn it into a pattern, then that buyer would, of course, get the pattern for free—and maybe even a handmade item made from that pattern. This could lead to a lively exchange of ideas, and customers would be thrilled to see their ideas brought to life here on CP.
Another option, of course, would be to give the customer in question the pattern for free so they can crochet, knit, sew, or felt it themselves, along with a small voucher for their prepaid account. I’d like that. :) Of course, I don’t know if the other readers here would like that. Creating patterns is very time-consuming, so whether anyone would be willing to do that remains to be seen. That probably also depends on the buyers’ ideas.
If this works out, you could even create a category in the shop called “Customer Request Patterns” or something like that. Or set up a thread where customers can post their suggestions, and every designer can pick out ideas from there. I don’t think the designers are short on ideas, but it’s still an honor to have your own idea brought to life.

Or we could do it this way: collect suggestions from customers, pick out the best ones, hold a vote to find the top suggestion, and then pass that suggestion on to _all_ designers. It would definitely be exciting to see how each designer’s creativity leads to different results—all of which are sure to be eye-catchers.

So, don’t get me wrong—I think these campaigns for making items from patterns or for reviewing patterns are great, but maybe we could expand them a bit.

What do you guys think?

Or here’s a completely different idea that Mützekatze gave me…

How about letting customers suggest ideas for what we designers should create… then we’ll select, say, 3 proposals or requests… and we designers will compete to bring them to life.

The customers, in turn, can then choose the winner from among the finished projects :)

Best regards,
Petra

I think it’s a great idea too, muetzekatze. I’d be happy if as many people as possible joined in.

Hi,
I’d be happy with both prize options! Store credit as well as physical prizes. I assume physical prizes are, for example, yarn and fabrics??

Best wishes and have a great weekend
Petra

Hi muetzekatze,

A mix of physical prizes and store credit sounds great—I like that idea.

@Everyone, thank you so much for the ideas.

Would anyone like to take charge of organizing the contest? We’ll provide the prizes, and the system will determine the winners.

Best regards
Alexander

@Alexander
which contest are you referring to? The one with the reviews or the one with the suggestion from muetzekatze?
What do you have to do if you take on this task?

Hi Hamster,

just the review campaign for now. We need to make several preparations for the other campaign.

About the new review campaign: what do you do there? How long will it run?

Hi Hamster,

The new campaign will run roughly the same way as before. We’ll set a one-month timeframe (e.g., March would be a good choice). We’ll create a forum post with all the necessary information about the campaign and let our customers know about it. I think we can consider physical prizes at some point in the future. This time, the store credit will be enough. Since we received a lot of reviews last time and only 10 people won, we can tweak the campaign a bit this time—for example, 5 euros in store credit for each of the top 20 reviews. It’s important that the review also includes a few words about the pattern—a short review.

Best regards
Alexander

OK, thanks, Alexander. Rewarding 20 reviews is very generous.
