Knitting or crocheting socks?

It all depends on the pattern and yarn you use, and what you need them for. For example: If your feet get cold easily, airy crocheted socks probably aren’t the right choice (I’ve tried them myself and given them as gifts). If you want them to be durable, you’ll need yarn that can withstand wear and tear over time, and a pattern that won’t stretch out. If you also want to wear them in shoes, you’re better off knitting them, because crochet patterns are bulkier . . .

it really depends. Knitted socks are warmer, unless you crochet with fine yarn and a 1.5 mm hook—then crocheted socks are very warm too.

I always find wool socks to be kind of sweaty, so I put regular cotton socks on underneath and then the wool socks on top. That’s really nice and warm and comfortable, without getting sweaty.

why don’t you just try both? If you can crochet and knit, then just go for it. That way, you’ll gain firsthand experience that no one can give you just by telling you about it.
