What often used to put me off making crafts from templates was the need to transfer the templates onto the craft paper—I found that too tedious and far too imprecise. Now that anyone can print out as many templates as they need, this problem can finally be avoided: I roughly cut out all the templates, secure them to the craft paper with painter’s tape, cut along the printed lines, and then tape the template and the craft paper back together with the painter’s tape at the cut sections. If a template also has slits, fold lines, embossing marks, or similar details, all of these can be cut or embossed directly through the template as well. Once everything is finished, the template can be removed, and you have a basic shape that can be worked on further.

If you want to string beads onto a cord or yarn for your craft project (e.g., a beaded dreamcatcher or a knotted beaded bracelet), here’s a trick to make it really easy:

Thread a piece of sewing thread through a thin sewing needle, fold it in half, and
tie a knot. Now place the crochet yarn in the loop, pick up the beads with the
needle, and slide them over the thread onto the yarn.

Have fun trying it out!

Best regards
Elke

There’s certainly a lot more I could share here, but since I’ve been crafting for many years now, everything has become routine, and it’s possible that I no longer see something as a valuable tip, even though it might be one.
Maybe someone has a specific question about “paper crafts” or is looking for a tip on a particular craft material or a specific step in the process?
Or maybe someone has a paper craft tip for me?

Please let me know here!

I’m not really the crafty type.
When the urge strikes, I do origami.

It’s very important to work very precisely.
So it’s better to take your time than to try to rush through it.

Make the figures in different sizes.
Also, use different types of paper.
Because not every shape works in every size or with every type of paper.
