While a potholder certainly falls into the "useful" category, it can also be quite decorative and an ornament for the kitchen, especially if it has hearts knitted into it.
It is knitted from cotton using the double-face technique (not suitable for knitting beginners). The special thing about this technique is that the motifs are practically mirrored on the back, which means there is no front and back - both sides look equally good. You need one ball of cotton in each color for this (leftovers are also great for it; 50 m of each color should be enough), plus knitting needles that are slightly thinner than those specified on the label. The edge is finished with a crocheted border, so you will also need a crochet hook for it.
The finished product can then also be used as a dishcloth - which makes washing up much more enjoyable.

A pot holder is definitely something you can always use—perhaps for Mother’s Day?
This one is also ideal for beginners. It can be crocheted in other colors to match your kitchen—for example, red and white—or, of course, in the favorite colors of the person who’ll be receiving it.



It’s definitely a lovely Mother’s Day gift, handmade for Mom. 

What woman doesn’t enjoy having scented candles burning at home? With these two patterns, you can crochet the matching lanterns for them. Or you can simply set up the lanterns as decoration.

All you need to make them is leftover yarn, an empty large yogurt jar, and possibly a few wooden decorative beads. And then you’re ready to get started.

The pattern includes lots of pictures and detailed explanations. That means it can also be crocheted easily by beginners.

The coasters are crocheted from cotton with a yardage of 125 m per 50 g

How about a decorative heart for your home? The heart can be hung up or used as a decorative piece lying flat. It is made in a vintage style and fits both rustic and modern interiors.

The pattern is also easy for beginners to follow, contains many pictures and detailed explanations. The stitches used are chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet, and double crochet.

The heart measures about 27 x 28 cm and is quick to make, as it is worked with yarn in weight 5.

This cute caterpillar is the perfect table decoration for any birthday. Depending on the child’s age, it can be expanded as much as you like. You can’t blow out the candles, but then again nothing can

A beautiful decorative piece is this easy-to-crochet door wreath.


You probably still have a few leftover bits of cotton yarn (e.g., Catania) at home. Then all you need is a Styrofoam wreath (12 cm diameter) and maybe a few beads. Wouldn't that make a lovely Mother's Day gift?

Potholder 'Es grünt so grün' - Tunisian crocheted

A touch of fresh spring green as kitchen decor or for real use as a potholder made from 100% cotton – a useful little gift for all kinds of occasions.

Both the pattern for the potholder and the pattern for the crochet flower(s) are illustrated step by step.


Material

for 1 potholder in the standard size 21 cm x 21 cm:
50 g light green + 50 g dark green crochet yarn made from 100% cotton/plant fiber because of the heat resistance, e.g. Schoeller+Stahl Record 210, 50 g- 90 m, according to the label 16 sts x 24 rows = 10 x 10 cm), so 50 g per color for the Tunisian crochet hook up to max. size 4.5.

For the flower(s), a scrap of yarn in cotton yarn is enough, e.g. Catania (Schachenmayr) or Limone (Schoeller+Stahl) for crochet hook 2.5 - 3.5.

Note: heat-resistant cotton yarn (= potholder yarn) is only lightly twisted and therefore difficult to crochet with, especially for beginners, because the yarn splits a lot. So if heat resistance is not that important to you, for example if you do not place a hot pot on the potholder, you can also crochet with a cotton blend yarn, e.g. Pantino by Schoeller+Stahl.

In addition, we need a measuring tape, scissors, and a yarn needle for weaving in ends.


General crochet skills are sufficient; the Tunisian crochet technique is explained with pictures.

Last-Minute Egg Cozy BIGGI - quick and easy to knit

Funny egg cozies - an eye-catcher on any breakfast table - not just for Easter! 

Also an ideal way to use up leftover yarn. Quick and easy to knit in one evening in front of the TV, they also make a last-minute little gift for any occasion.

Basic knitting skills are enough.
We knit in rounds with a set of double-pointed needles. Decorations are possible as desired and according to your own creativity.

Materials:
Basically, any yarn can be used with a slightly smaller needle size than indicated on the label.

1 egg cozy: approx. 10 g – 15 g yarn (leftover) + small bits of leftover yarn for decorating; here: set of double-pointed needles size 4.0 and crochet hook approx. 3.0 for “knotting in hair”; yarn needle for weaving in ends, sewing needle and buttons if needed, measuring tape, scissors. Recommendation: safety eyes if the egg cozies are used as amigurumi for small children.

Windows can always use a new decoration from time to time. Now in spring, you can decorate them with these garlands—they’re nice and colorful, easy to make, and can be adapted to any window height and width.

   

The window garlands are made from cardstock and, in my example, are about 85 cm long; the individual elements are attached to an organza ribbon. They’re well suited for beginners and can also be made together with children.
