Which layout do you prefer?

Hi,

these days, e-books are used in a variety of ways—on a computer, printed out on paper, on an e-book reader, on a cell phone, on a tablet, and who knows what else.

Which format or layout do you prefer? (Which format do you prefer on which device?)

Landscape or portrait orientation?
Well-organized with lots of paragraphs?
As compact as possible (e.g., to save paper)?
Divided into chapters and paragraphs (most comfortable for e-readers?)
With or without a table of contents?
Images alongside the corresponding text, or would you prefer images at the end after the entire pattern text?
—any other ideas you have

I only have a PC and save them; I rarely print them.

I can only speak for myself. Here's what I like:

- landscape format
- paragraphs of about 4–7 lines
- compression: no idea :-)
- sectioning: no idea either.
- I think a table of contents is unnecessary
- lots of pictures are good for beginners, but a pattern without pictures is easier to print. I think having 2 versions is good.

Something else that comes to mind: I like photos that only show the product, as beautifully as possible!!

Hi,

I use A4 portrait format for my PDF patterns. I include a cover page, a materials list, and divide the pattern into the individual sections of the crochet project. I write the pattern itself in detail, interspersed with explanatory images.

At the end, I include a photo of the finished product and an offer of help in case anyone has trouble following the pattern. Done!

I rarely print out patterns; I usually crochet and knit directly in front of the computer.

That’s how I do it too, crochetwithlove—I just want to optimize it for e-book readers… that’s why I’m asking.
