For example, dog leashes, collars, etc.

Hi Conny,

the topic of handmade items for animals—especially dogs—is definitely interesting.
I’m sure one of the many designers here on Crazypatterns has some great ideas and will bring them to life.

We could even create a whole dog collection, with all the trimmings.

Unfortunately, that’s not something we’d do ourselves, since we focus exclusively on amigurumi. But I’m sure someone will step up.

Hi, I’ve actually thought about this before—just in theory—but I don’t have a dog of my own to test it on… Besides, it’s possible that wool might be too delicate for a dog? I don’t have any experience with that, so I’ll have to pass for now..... But I’ll keep it in mind and see if I can contribute something in this area in 2015. Best regards

I do have dogs to try things out on, but I don’t think yarn is the right material for leashes and collars. I’m actually more into the “new” trend of knotting with paracord (this technique used to be called macramé, and we used to do it in school with hard, scratchy jute to make owls on bamboo sticks. Well, who’s from my generation and remembers that? ;-) ). As for pet clothing (the only thing I can think of that would be suitable for crocheting or knitting), I’m really not into that at all, so I certainly won’t be contributing anything on that topic.

Wool isn’t really my favorite material for dog clothes either.

I’m very familiar with macramé, but I failed miserably at making collars with paracord ;-(

Would felt actually work for dogs? As far as I know, you can make felt really sturdy, but of course I don’t know if that would be enough to make it stable enough. Unfortunately, I don’t have a dog to test it on, and I don’t know how to work with felt either. But I just wanted to bring it up. I mean, there are all kinds of dogs—for a really big one, you’d probably need a sturdy leash, but a tiny dog, barely bigger than a cat, doesn’t need an extra-sturdy leash.

yayyyy, I’ve finally made two dog sweaters for my Ronja… I knitted one and crocheted the other.
