ich würde sagen, egal ob beim Stricken oder Häkeln - es kommt ganz darauf an, was du machen möchtest.

Vielleicht ein paar Beispiele:

• für warme Winterkleidung nehme ich gerne Merino- oder Alpaka-Wolle, oder Wollgemische (schön warm und oft auch ganz weich)
• für leichtere Sommer-Sachen, Tücher, Taschen und vor allem auch für Amigurumi hat Baumwolle (oder Baumwoll-Mischgarne) die besten Eigenschaften (tolle Farben, hält gut die Form und wärmt nicht)
• für Baby-Spielzeug wie Greiftiere oder Kuscheltücher eignet sich Polyacryl recht gut (schon weich und leicht und gut waschbar)

Welches Projekt hast du denn konkret im Kopf?

As already mentioned, it depends on what you want to knit. 
For example, I specialize in baby and children's toys, so I only use high-quality yarns, such as Mondial Bio Soft Cotton. I swear by this yarn; it's tested for harmful substances and is colorfast to saliva. 

I prefer to knit with superwash merino. The yarn really has to be super soft, because I’m very sensitive to scratchy fabrics.
Cotton works too, but in many cases it’s too heavy for me.
I also really enjoy knitting with baby alpaca, especially for winter items.

I mostly make doll clothes.

also ich verwende gerne für

• Sommer-Pullis und Tops: Baumwolle/Baumwoll-Mischgarne, evtl. mit Seide/Leinen
  
• Trachten-Teile: für Herren-Outdoor-Jacken Trachtenwolle, für uns Damen Merino-Garne, für Babys Merino oder spezielle speichelechte Merino-Microfaser-Mischgarne
• Mützen und Schals: Merino / Merino-Mischgarne, Alpaka, Sockengarn 6-fädig
• Jacken, Tücher, Schals: (Lace-)Merino, Alpaka, KidSilk (Mohair), Sockengarne z.B. mit Kaschmir
• Topflappen: 100 % Baumwolle
• Socken: am liebsten Sockengarne mit Alpaka, Merino, Kaschmir oder Aloe Vera/Jojoba-Öl - die sind so schön kuschelweich schon beim Stricken
  

Nun ja, eigentlich mag ich ja alle Garne, da mich glücklicherweise kein Garn kratzt :-)
Somit liebe ich für meine Outdoor-Jacken auch absolut naturbelassene Schafwolle.

Da habe ich einige tolle Wollmöglichkeiten.

I guess everyone has their own favorite type of yarn. You’ll probably have to try a few yourself to see what you like best.
For example, I love mohair (to wear), but I hate crocheting or knitting with it because you can’t unravel it if you make a mistake. And I like to crochet with 100% cotton, but I don’t particularly like wearing it. (That’s probably why I mainly make amigurumi.)

Meistens benutze ich  Verlaufsgarne mit Baumwoll-/Polyacryl-Gemisch.

Ich liebe handgespnnene Garne (Kid Mohair, Merino/Seide usw.), am liebsten multicolor in langen Verläufen gefärbt. Sehr schön, wenn verschiedene Stärken miteinander kombiniert werden.

I use a cotton/polyacrylic blend (50%/50%) for both knitting and crocheting.
