Dear users, dear authors,
It’s not quite summer yet, but we can already start looking forward to it. :-) It’s even better when you can make something with your own hands.
In this thread, you’ll find everything you need for summer—from breezy clothing to toys, sun protection, and more. Have fun!

@Authors
Please share all kinds of summer patterns here. Don’t forget to include a link, a picture, and text with details about the materials, technique, difficulty level, and what makes your pattern special. Good luck!

Summer time...time for airy, lightweight dresses and tunics...that calls for long necklaces that dangle loosely over a beach outfit or jazz up a simple summer dress...

Here is a pattern for a summery necklace like that ...with felt beads, a few glass beads, crochet rings and other metal rings...(for the rings, you can also get creative and reuse old fashion jewelry, use curtain rings, etc.)
and a little filet crochet thread ...all in your favorite outfit colors..and
summer can come!

Have fun - beginners too...it's not hard ;-)

Best wishes from
Monika

When spring is approaching, a pretty little skirt is a must. The pattern is made in sizes 62–80 (waist circumference up to 50 cm).
However, it explains how you can very easily make it for any
size. It has a button at the back, and it can also be
tied with a ribbon/cord, etc., so it fits
across several sizes.

Click here and you’ll go to the pattern:

Materials: (here for sizes 62–80)
  • approx. 110 g yarn / gradient yarn with a yardage of 240 m/100 g
  • crochet hook size 3
  • 1 small button
  • possibly ribbon and decorations

Mesh shirts are really useful in summer. They can be worn over a top or long-sleeved shirt and add a little something to your outfit.

Do you have birthdays, anniversaries, or other occasions coming up this summer where gifts will be given? Then you definitely need suitable gift packaging, for example this one:

This gift bag is made from photo cardstock and measures approx. 25.5 x 26 x 9 cm. It is very easy to craft, although cutting out the many flowers and circles does take a little time and patience.

SUMMER can come...

with these patterns:

Summer top with waterfall collar, quick to knit

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This airy summer top with the unusual collar is quick to knit.

The download also includes an Excel spreadsheet for converting your individual gauge. You will need Excel or LibreOffice for this; the latter is available as a free download on the internet.

The PDF pattern is illustrated, but it is not a basic knitting course (a link for basic knitting techniques is included).

These knitting skills are required:

Casting on stitches, purl and knit stitches, yarn over, knitting stitches
together, slip-slip-knit decrease (is explained), increase from the strand between stitches, bind off stitches.

We need for sizes S/M/L: 300 g cotton (blend) tape yarn, Keiki by Austermann used here, 63% cotton, 37 % polyamide, for needle size 5–6, gauge according to ball band 16 stitches x 23 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm, 50 g–90 m. Pins for blocking, measuring tape, yarn needle for weaving in ends, scissors, row counter is helpful. Used here: knitting needle size 5.0.

********************************************************************************

This top is also totally in:

Summer shirt, quick to knit

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

This easy-to-knit summer design, size 38/40 is made from 250 g cotton blend yarn for needle size 3.5 - 4.0, 50 g - 125 m. The PDF pattern is illustrated.

The finished shirt has a stretchy back width of approx. 44 cm and is approx. 65 cm long, but also looks pretty when shorter. Thanks to the simple pattern (made of yarn overs, knit and purl stitches) and shape, this piece can easily be adapted to any size.

What else you need:

Measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends, stitch holder, possibly a set of double-pointed needles size 3.5 - 4.0, row counter and stitch markers are helpful but not absolutely necessary.

****************************************************************

And for slightly cooler summer days, here is my "Spring Design 2017":

Striped cotton short-sleeved cardigan

(To purchase/download, please click the image)

Stripes are right on trend.
With a top underneath this comfortable-to-wear cotton short-sleeved jacket, you’ll be wonderfully dressed both at work and in your free time. And if it gets a bit cooler, you can also wear a thin turtleneck underneath.

The PDF pattern is illustrated across 23 pages.

These knitting skills are needed:
Casting on stitches, knit and purl stitches, knitting stitches together, yarn over, emphasized decreases and increases from the strand between stitches (explained with pictures).
Difficulty level:  medium

We need a total of approx. 450 g Catania (Schachenmayr) or Limone (Schoeller+Stahl) for sizes S to L, 100 % mercerized cotton, ball band information: 50 g–125 m yardage, needle size 2.5–3.5, 26 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm with the following color distribution:

  • Blue 100 g
  • White 100 g
  • Dark green 150 g
  • Light green 100 g

Depending on the size, more or less leftover yarn will remain from each ball.

Used here: knitting needle size 3.5, 3 stitch holders and 1 cable to hold stitches, stitch markers and row counter (not absolutely necessary), pins for blocking, measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle for weaving in ends.

More patterns can be found both in my [Link removed] at https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/users/view_collection/1207/sommerliches    and also

Even summer often has cool days, and that’s when a “Kreuzleiberl” comes in handy.. - well, actually all year round.

Short pattern for a women’s knitted vest with mohair

This vest is knitted with two strands held together, weighs only approx. 300 g, and fits over any blouse or sweater – basically in any season.

The pattern contains the images from the image gallery and is presented in text form. It is written for size 36/38, but can be easily adjusted to larger sizes. How to convert the
gauge to individual measurements is described.

These knitting skills are required:
cast on and bind off stitches, knit and purl stitches, simple cabling (described), edge stitches, knit stitches together, increases from the strand between stitches.

We need:

200 g 4-ply sock yarn (e.g. Schoeller+Stahl Fortissima Mexiko Color 60% virgin wool, 25% bamboo, 15% PAM) as well as 100 g Kid Silk by Austermann (75% kid mohair, 25% silk, 25 g – 225 m for needle size 3-4 according to the ball band), 6.0 knitting needles, cable needle (auxiliary needle), measuring tape, scissors, wool needle for sewing in ends,  row counter is helpful.

This pattern is available here: https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/store/Woll-Genuss

I don’t know about you, but in the summer I like to knit with cotton. It just works better when it’s hot. I also love going to the farmers’ market in the summer because there are so many great things there. And for that, you need a shopping bag.

You can find the pattern here.

In summer, linen is wonderfully light and comfortable to wear.
This triangular shawl is therefore a wonderful companion for the cooler morning and evening hours. LaPuLi is knitted from left to right, with increases on one side using kfb and regular decreases on the other side.
This shawl is suitable for beginners, as it consists of knit and purl stitches and yarn overs. Stitches are also knitted together and
slip-stitch decreased.
The picot bind-off edge is explained in detail.

  • Luftmaschen
  • feste Maschen
  • halbe Stäbchen
  • Stäbchen
  • Reliefmaschen

Put a few little suns in your vase!
With this bouquet, your home will feel a little sunnier even on gray days—until summer comes and you can finally admire the beautiful flowers outside.

These paper flowers are made from cardstock and crepe paper and are about 30–33 cm tall. Templates for two flower sizes are included. They’re easy to make and can also be designed in other colors and unusual color combinations.
