Spring 2017 Yarn Collection—I don’t understand the pattern, please help? Hi everyone.... I bought the new spring collection from Aldi yesterday. It includes a pattern for a top with an arch pattern. I’ve read it through countless times, but I’m completely lost. Could someone who’s made this before maybe help me out? Maybe send a video or clear instructions? I’d be very grateful. Best, Selma

Hi Selma, welcome to our forum. Does this pattern include a customer service number for questions? That would be great, of course.
If not, you’ll just have to hope that someone here has the same pattern and can explain it to you. Please be patient. I can’t promise, though, that anyone will be able to explain it to you.

Hi Selma,

I’d also recommend contacting the distributor or their customer service department, since they’re the ones selling the yarn collection along with the patterns.
Also: that’s the crux of the matter with patterns like these (and those in many books or magazines). To save paper and thus costs, the patterns are kept as short as possible; they’re often edited and revised by proofreaders who aren’t very familiar—or at all familiar—with the world of handcrafts, and before you know it, many crafters are left standing there, unable to understand the patterns.
I often can’t make head or tail of such patterns either and have to figure everything out on my own.
Accordingly, a “clear pattern,” as you call it, would involve the completely normal (and indeed very time- and labor-intensive) effort required when writing patterns (possibly even for different sizes...).

How about you just pick out a similar pattern—if there is one—from the truly vast collection of patterns here (and on other platforms) and use the yarn you bought for it?

But maybe you’ll get lucky and someone will be inspired to write a pattern for that top. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Best wishes, Nina

Hello Zwergnasebaer
Many, many thanks for your reply. I think this top is really pretty. It’s actually simple, it’s just that the way the pattern is written makes it complicated.
I can send you a photo; maybe you can explain how I could make it another way.
It’s an arch-pattern top, and it is crocheted using only the arch pattern. However, I have to work with two packs because I need size 38/40..... Best regards, Selma

Hi Selma,

I’m only on my phone right now, but tomorrow I’ll take a look at the picture on my computer (it’s too small on the phone screen...).

But feel free to send me a picture of the pattern at info@zwergnasebaer.de—maybe I’ll be able to make sense of it, and then I could help you out.

Best regards, Nina
