Question about a circular yoke

Hi everyone.
I have a quick question.
When I crochet a children's sweater with a round yoke, I increase by 12 stitches per round. Is it the same principle for an adult sweater, or do I need to increase more? And how does it work with knitting?

I’d like to try crocheting a sweater with a round yoke, too.
Why do you increase 12 stitches per round when crocheting?
When knitting, it’s 4 x 2 = 8 stitches!?
Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to crochet a round yoke?

I’m guessing it has to do with the stretchiness of the fabric.
Crocheted fabric doesn’t stretch the same way as knitted fabric.
