Where is the front?

I want to crochet a cat for my son. The cat is crocheted in spiral rounds, and the head and body are crocheted as one piece. Where do you start with the head? The instructions for the head say that when it’s time to attach the safety eyes, you should make sure to attach them to the front of the head. But where is the front?
Is the front where the first and last stitches of a round are at the front in the middle (see picture), or at the back?

Unfortunately not, but I did get an answer in the meantime. :) I hope that answers my question and that the cat will then be looking forward and not at its own butt. :)
