Dear users, dear authors,
today is going to be a good day. Get well soon to those who are sick, warmth to those who are cold, and lots of motivation to everyone.
What’s on the agenda for today? What’s important to you today?
it’s always important to me to read your warm and heartwarming posts on the forum! I was already happy to see them yesterday, and seeing them again today is just as much a joy.
As for me, unfortunately, all I have planned for today is work. I’m on a long shift today and will pick up my oldest from sports this evening.
But that’s no reason to mope—I’ll just read along here, enjoy the posts, and maybe get some ideas from what everyone else has planned for today.
Good morning! It’s a special day here in Hamburg today. The Elbphilharmonie’s opening concert is tonight, with lots of celebrities and all that. I work very close by in a sort of museum shop, and I’m really curious to see if even more tourists will come here and what will happen. Right now there are an insane number of police officers on the streets, concrete barriers are being set up, and so on.
At 8:15 p.m., when the concert starts, there’s supposed to be a light show on the exterior facade—since I have to work until 8 p.m., I’ll be able to watch it. I hope it stays dry until then. Somehow I’m totally excited (totally silly, but I’m happy about our Elphi).
And on the train on my way home, I’ll keep crocheting my little mouse.
Today the frog is getting its curls cut off! ;-)
Our Flocke has a hairdresser appointment. After that, she'll look like a real snowflake again. Right now she looks more like a flokati rug.
Oh yes... for anyone who doesn't know yet - our Flocke is our dog. A white Havanese girl with beige-brown ears. ☺
@Arni
All's well that ends well. ;-) I hope you can enjoy the light show.
I actually managed to tidy up my study today, which isn’t that easy for me… it’s just too cluttered :-)
And as a reward for the day, I’ll be crocheting in that very room again—it can’t stay that tidy for long!
We’ll probably also be shoveling a little snow today, since a storm is forecast and it’ll blow everything around again. Unfortunately, it always ends up right where I don’t need it....
Actually, I really need to clean up, BUT... there are so many other things I enjoy more. Since I live alone, I’ll probably just ignore the mess again and keep working on the Carnival costumes for my grandchildren instead.
See my plan from yesterday—it went completely wrong, just as expected ;)
Other than sewing my bunnies together, I didn’t get anything productive done ;) Because—see ruthk—there are just so many other things that are more fun.
A wonderful Wednesday, yes, because I still have the day off, and with this lousy weather (sleet, strong winds, and fog), I don’t have to go out today. So I can keep crocheting my tunic (photo coming as soon as I’m done). I’m not even sure yet if the tunic will turn out well (pattern from Crazypatterns here).
I’m going to enjoy the rest of the day until my sweetheart gets home from work, and then we’ll have a nice cup of coffee or cappuccino together.
And of course, I’ll be reading along here in the forum and getting some inspiration.
Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday, everyone!
Well, today I’ve been working on my crochet pattern for the upcoming event.
And right in the middle of it, I realized that it wasn’t quite the right thing after all. So now I’ve put together a quick and easy pattern (suitable even for beginners).
Well, the pattern isn’t quite finished yet, but it’ll definitely be done and uploaded tomorrow, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Other than that, I slept for two hours again to help me recover a bit.
We had mussels for the very first time today. I had to really dig through my cookbooks for that. But my husband and I really enjoyed it.
Served with some lovely olive bread—perfect. But it all ended up taking over an hour after all.
@Arni: I hope you have a wonderful time at the concert for the opening of the Philharmonie. I’ve seen and read so many reports about it, and I absolutely have to make it to Hamburg this year.
And now, I wish everyone a lovely, relaxing evening.
I had a wonderful Wednesday today for several reasons. For one thing, we took Flocke to the groomer, and now she looks really cute again.
For another, my new crochet hooks arrived. Hand-turned handles—one made of genuine bog oak, over 2,000 years old, and the other made of New Zealand swamp kauri, also an ancient wood.
They were ordered especially for me. I’m totally in love. <3

I was just standing outside at the harbor watching the light show. There was a loudspeaker there, too, but I wasn’t inside the concert hall. I’m not Mrs. Merkel, after all. As an ordinary person, you didn’t stand much of a chance of getting in today. The light show was pretty nice. But it was raining the whole time, so I decided to leave early, and now I’m heading home.
Hamburg is definitely worth a visit. There’s a lot to see here.
I’m glad you all had a nice Wednesday :-) I actually left the house in a good mood this morning and was already picturing myself happily crocheting on the couch around 5 or 6 p.m. ;-) Then I had a cheerful cup of coffee with my coworkers at the office and.......then my phone rang....well, I’ll spare you the rest of that tale of woe ;-) I just got home, and I already have my first appointment tomorrow morning at 6 :-( BUUUUT......and that’s the good part.....I was forced to get so many appointments done today that were actually planned for Friday that I’ll be heading into the weekend by 3:30 p.m. at the very laaaast :-). It’s worth sacrificing Wednesday for that ;-)
