Where can I buy cakes made of pure natural yarn?

Hello, dear community,

Can anyone please tell me where I can get cakes made of pure natural yarn? So, cotton, merino, alpaca, etc. As long as it’s natural yarn, blends are also welcome—for example, merino and silk.

Most of them contain some polyester, which I’d rather not work with.

Unfortunately, I’ve only found Pro Lana Woolly Hugs—are there any other suppliers?

I’ve also read that the strands are tied together. I thought the whole point of a cake was that you don’t have to tie the strands together, but instead have long strands all in one piece?

I'm currently working with a pure and very fine (10-ply) merino gradient yarn cake, which you can get on request in Rosenheim from Emmas-Laden.
Melanie Eglseder also has an online shop: www.emmas-laden.net, but as far as I know you need to ask by email if you want this quality.

Regarding your second question:
The long gradient is created precisely because the strands are knotted together at specially calculated intervals. This is entirely handmade work done by the winders. You yourself don't have to knot anything. The knots are usually so fine that you can simply work them in without having to cut and weave in ends. The knots also won't come undone when washed. In addition, the yarn is unplied. That means the strands are not twisted together, as is usual with "normal" yarn.
