Crocheting Knitting Patterns

I have a really silly question!
Can you also crochet following knitting patterns? Has anyone here ever done that or tried it?

I’m asking because I was looking at a magazine today called “Knitted and Crocheted Baby Clothes.” And in the patterns section, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it—it said “knitting/crochet pattern.”

As far as I know, you work it one-to-one. So one crochet stitch equals one knitting stitch. But I haven’t tried it that way yet. So this is just a tip—no guarantees. Maybe it would be interesting to just give it a try.

I’m just going to give it a try. I saw something really great in a book, and I’d love to make it.

I’ve noticed it’s pretty hard to find a good baby book with crochet patterns if you want to make more than just booties and hats. :( So I’m going to consult a few knitting books and try to recreate the items using similar crochet patterns. I’m already excited to see the result.

But first, I have to finish the VW bus, following Medina’s pattern. :)
 

Does that really work? I wouldn’t have thought you could adapt them that easily. But I can’t knit anyway, so I can’t really weigh in on this. :)

It depends on what you’re crocheting instead of knitting—unfortunately, you can’t always follow them exactly as written… crochet stitches are usually larger than knitting stitches…
