Well, if I’m seeing this correctly, you start in the middle of the straight side. I don’t know if you’ve already purchased the pattern, but why not just write to the author herself? I’m sure she’ll be happy to help you.

OK, and where can I see who the author is?
No, I haven’t bought it yet because I wanted to know where to start, since I have a yarn cake and can somewhat imagine how the colors will flow.
