Beginner's question

Hi everyone,
I have the “Beanie & Loop: Mix It” pattern. Can anyone tell me how to calculate the cast-on? The size chart is included, and I have the yarn as specified. I need size XS.

You can always ask the author of the pattern for help and have them explain it to you. That’s part of the service here. If you give me the author’s name and a link to the pattern, I can reach out to the author for you. What do you think?

Dear Dagmar!

Thank you so much for purchasing my pattern! Depending on the yarn, crochet hook, and how tightly or loosely you crochet, you’ll simply need to chain enough stitches so that the foundation chain measures 52–53 cm (as shown in the size chart). 

If you’re crocheting (like me) with a size 6 crochet hook and yarn labeled for hook size 6–7, then for size XS, chain about 62–63 stitches.
