Dear users, dear authors,
how do you work the shell stitch, and what is it used for?
Thanks for the helpful info.

Hi ;) I used this pattern to crochet my mermaid blanket. I think the pattern is pretty simple but very pretty ;)
If you need more detailed info, I’d be happy to find a few videos for you. Best regards, Crisa’s Crochet World

Hi, everyone!
The shell stitch creates a wonderfully textured overall look when used for blankets or clothing. It’s also perfect for trims and edgings. It’s one of my absolute favorite patterns :-).
The shell shape is created by crocheting a single crochet, skipping one or two stitches, then working several stitches (e.g., double crochets) into one stitch, skipping one or two stitches again, and crocheting a single crochet into the next stitch. This causes the group of stitches to fan out into a shell shape. This repeat is then continued throughout the piece, resulting in one of the most beautiful patterns.
Of course, there are countless variations, but listing them all would be beyond the scope of this post ;-).

Greetings from Berlin, Janina

@Crisa's Häkelwelt
that's kind of you to offer to look for a video for me.
I don't start these threads about material topics for myself, but for all craft enthusiasts and also for all beginners who might have questions.
I'll put the links here in this thread, where you can find an overview.

I love this pattern.
You can create really beautiful pieces with it without much effort,
since the shell stitch is actually quite easy to crochet.

I worked 1 single crochet, then skipped 2 stitches, and worked 5 double crochets into the next stitch.

This is what the shell stitch can look like when using 2 colors.
