Hi,
has anyone ever crocheted this hat before? I’m not entirely sure what “double crochets inserted from the back” means. Are those post double crochets, or double crochets worked into the back loop? I’m also a little confused about the decreases. Usually, you crochet 2 stitches together, but the pattern makes it sound like you just skip 1 stitch. Please help me—I’d really love to crochet this awesome hat. Thanks in advance.

I just reread the pattern, and it seems to me that you understood everything correctly: 1. You insert the hook from the back through both loops
2. You skip one stitch

But I think you can safely crochet the two stitches together instead of skipping one....
