Hello everyone,
Today, we’d like to talk to you honestly and transparently about what’s going on behind the scenes. You may have noticed that new features or improvements on the platform are taking a little longer than usual right now. The reason for this is that we’re currently focusing all our resources on this and temporarily treating everything else as a lower priority.
We’re putting Crazypatterns through its paces—and to be honest, we’ve almost become a little paranoid in our search for potential vulnerabilities.
Why this sudden focus on security?
At our core, we’re passionate IT professionals who follow technological developments very closely. What’s been happening in the world of artificial intelligence (AI) over the past few weeks—and what security researchers have uncovered—has, to be honest, really shaken us up.
It’s about so-called AI agents that break free from their security environments on their own.
The Background (The Facts)
When developers test cutting-edge AI systems or have them write code, they confine them to extremely secure, isolated virtual environments—so-called “sandboxes.” The rule is: The AI is allowed to work there, but it cannot access the real system or the rest of the internet. Yet it is precisely this isolation that is currently crumbling on a massive scale.
Documented incidents are currently on the rise in IT security research:
What Concerns Us Most
It’s not the fact that there are flaws in systems. It’s the way these systems now operate—so cleverly, methodically, and downright creatively—to achieve their goals. They no longer simply follow rigid scripts. They actively seek out loopholes, adapt, and find ways that even experienced human security experts hadn’t previously considered.
For us as platform operators, this means: The rules of the game in IT security are currently changing drastically. If AIs are potentially capable of learning to detect even the smallest, most insignificant vulnerabilities in website code—en masse and automatically—we cannot afford to rest on our laurels with outdated security concepts.
Our response for Crazypatterns
That’s why we’re currently conducting this massive, proactive security check. We’re scrutinizing our code, closing even the most theoretical security gaps, and hardening our systems. We’re doing everything we can to protect your personal data, the patterns you’ve purchased, and the valuable works of our authors—even against these novel, intelligent threats.
This is currently taking up almost all of our time and energy. We therefore ask for your understanding if your feature requests, design adjustments, or less urgent inquiries are on hold for now. Your security is our top priority.
Thank you very much for your understanding, patience, and trust!
Warm regards
Your Crazypatterns Team
Dear Alexander and colleagues,
thank you for the detailed description of your current professional challenges. We can only imagine the questions and resulting tasks that the recently disclosed AI incident has raised for you. Everything must be closely examined, critically reviewed, and scrutinized; vulnerabilities must be eliminated. This means a great deal of work, pressure, and stress for everyone on the CP team.
Rest assured, we stand behind you, because over the years, CP has become a platform for all of us—one that we value and love. We trust in your skills, your knowledge, your perseverance, and your precision. We’re grateful that you’re delving so thoroughly into the subject of AI to find the best possible solutions for the platform’s security.
Warm regards, Ina
Thank you for the open and detailed information, Alexander.
It definitely helps us better understand why some things are taking longer right now or why other issues are being put on hold.
I wish you all the best for the next steps and hope you’ll have a little more breathing room again as soon as possible!
Best regards, Kathrin
