Correcting Crochet Mistakes Invisibly

What options are there, besides undoing / frogging, for correcting crochet mistakes?

I’d have some answers for knitting, but when it comes to crocheting, I’m not sure either.

I’m looking forward to seeing posts that share methods and ideas on this topic.

Mistakes are less noticeable when crocheting—depending on the pattern, of course—and a stitch doesn’t just drop disastrously. For example, if I miscount while crocheting the belly of an amigurumi, you can’t tell afterward whether I simply increased or decreased by one stitch in a later row.

With actual stitch patterns, though, I can’t think of anything else besides unraveling, either.

I also think that mistakes are less noticeable when crocheting, since no stitches drop. I had a pattern with double crochets, and there was a chain stitch between two double crochets worked into one stitch - I don’t know how often I forgot that extra chain stitch, and yet it wasn’t really noticeable in the next row, where several double crochets were then worked into the chain space. But I’m sure it also depends on the pattern; if it’s complicated, unraveling is probably the only solution.<\/p>

With knitting, you see every mistake right away, or you end up with a hole if a stitch drops - then it’s a matter of fixing it if you still can, knitting back, or unraveling. And with complicated knitting patterns, correcting mistakes is hardly possible - in my opinion.<\/p>
