What are (non-)stretch fabrics used for?

Dear community,
what are (non-)stretch fabrics used for in sewing?

Non-stretch fabrics are definitely used for bags, and for pillowcases too—I’ve tried using something else for those, and it didn’t work out.
Shirts made from stretch fabrics are more comfortable to wear because they move with you.

Anything that needs to hold its shape should be sewn from non-stretch fabrics. As Veronika already mentioned: pillowcases and bags, like these ones here, for example

If you want to tailor clothing to exact body measurements—for example, for a costume—then the fabric shouldn’t be stretchy. But for everyday clothing for adults and children, I naturally prefer a stretchy fabric. It doesn’t pinch anywhere, and kids can stretch it in all directions when putting it on and taking it off.

There are hardly any truly non-stretch fabrics in that sense, since cotton fabric has a cross weave and can stretch diagonally. Cotton shrinks when wet and stretches back out again as it dries.
Non-stretch fabrics are used, for example, for bedding and table linens, as well as for costumes, suits, and regular fabric trousers without elastane. Jeans without elastane can stretch by up to 10%, despite their twill weave
