Basic Skills in Patterns

Dear community,
when product descriptions say that basic skills are sufficient for making the respective pattern, what does that mean?

When it comes to sewing, “basic knowledge” means to me:

• knowing how to operate a sewing machine
  
• knowing the most important basic terms (e.g., right side/wrong side of the fabric, topstitching, seam allowance, finishing, etc.)
  
• knowing the difference between stretch and non-stretch fabrics
  
• being able to read a simple sewing pattern
  
• having already sewn simple projects (e.g., pillowcase, shopping bag, possibly a zippered pouch, possibly a kimono-style T-shirt)
  

I assume that

when it comes to crocheting, the customer knows what chain stitches, slip stitches, single crochet stitches, and the various types of double crochet stitches are.

When it comes to knitting, I assume the customer knows how to cast on, knit and purl stitches, and bind off.
