Dear community,
What has been your most challenging craft project so far? Were you able to finish it, did it become a UFO, or did you give up on it?

Not difficult… but extremely time-consuming
over 500 little granny squares… that really was a Herculean task.
but it looks great finished

Actually, I haven’t done anything that terribly difficult yet—at most, just some time-consuming projects like the temperature blanket and the temperature snake, which each took over a year to complete. But so far, I’ve finished everything; giving up isn’t an option. And even if something sits around for a while, I’ve never actually had a true UFO—everything gets finished within a year.

Several years ago, I knitted a reversible sweater (back then, it wasn’t called “double-face” yet).
It was worked across from one sleeve to the other.
For that, I needed a wide variety of needles.

Unfortunately, that sweater no longer exists.

This JACKET 500
wasn’t just my 500th pattern here at CP
—it was also a bit of a challenge:
with crocheted braids, different patterns, and embroidery
to boot—a real treat for discerning craft enthusiasts!

My son wanted a sweater featuring Sleipnir, an eight-legged horse from Norse mythology. After I’d created a chart, the next challenge was to incorporate the Sleipnirs into the RVO yoke while increasing stitches at the same time. I can’t even remember how many times I knitted it and then unraveled it… In the end, we were both quite happy with the result, and I’m glad and proud that    I stuck with it. As you can see in the photo, this sweater is perfect for wearing at the Arctic Circle 😉

I crocheted tank-style slippers for my son-in-law; it took almost three-quarters of a year, but I managed to finish them.

I don’t know why, but I really struggled with my sleeping baby dragons. I was determined to make the tail and body in one piece, and I must have unpicked everything a hundred times until I was truly satisfied with the shape and proportions. In the end, though, I was really proud of myself for pulling it off after all, even though it was such a struggle!

My most difficult and time-consuming project so far was a medieval dress for myself. I finished it and I’m super proud of it!

Do you currently have a project you’re stuck on?

I’m currently making a flower using the needle-point technique.
It’s time-consuming and a lot of work.
But it’s still fun. (As long as the thread doesn’t keep getting tangled😈)
