Dear community,

January is behind us, and right now we often feel like winter just doesn’t want to end. Outside it’s wet, cold, and gray on gray. 🌧️❄️

But we won’t let it spoil our mood! We’re doing something to beat the winter blues—with needle, thread, and lots and lots of color! 🎨 While the first snowdrops are struggling in the garden, we’re simply bringing the joy of life onto the couch.

That’s why the motto of our February campaign is: Colors Against the Gray – Colorful Through February! 🎨

Whether you’re already calling for spring or still snuggling up in warm things: We want to see projects that pop, shine, or gently wrap you in color. The main thing is that they chase away the gloomy mood!

🗓️ Campaign period: from now until Sunday, February 22, 2026, 11:59 p.m. (incl.)

🎁 Prizes To help refill your idea stash, we’re raffling off €100 in Crazypatterns shopping credit among all valid entries.

The winners will be chosen as usual:

  • Community Choice: 3 × €20 = €60 (The 3 entries with the most likes win / cutoff date 02/22/2026, 11:59 p.m.)
  • Jury Picks: 2 × €10 = €20 (Jury = Operator and Moderator)
  • Random Selection: 2 × €10 = €20 (2 participating entries will be chosen at random)

💡 Need some inspiration?

If you’re still looking for the perfect project, feel free to browse our Inspiration section: Here are the pictures. Maybe you’ll find exactly the splash of color you need there!

We’re looking for anything that’s colorful or puts you in a good mood, for example:

  • Signs of spring: First flowers, Easter bunnies, little birds, or door wreaths. 🌷
  • Against cold feet: Socks in neon colors or colorful gradients. 🧦
  • Colorful accessories: Light shawls, hats, or bags that stand out.
  • Home decor: Pillows, blankets, or wall hangings in the "Dopamine Decor" style.
  • Amigurumis: Colorful monsters, lucky charms, or fantasy creatures.
  • Anything you already have a photo of or that’s still on your needles right now—as long as it isn’t gray! 😉

How to take part:

  1. Post your entry here in the thread.
  2. Feel free to use the template below and attach your own photos (multiple pictures are welcome).
  3. Tell us briefly why you chose these colors and what you made from them.
  4. Multiple entries per person are very welcome!

🔎 Rules / Checklist

  • Your own work & your own photos: No stock images or purely AI-generated images.
  • Projects you made earlier are okay if they fit the theme of "color/spring/good mood" and you present them here during the campaign period.
  • No external/commercial links. (Mentioning inspiration without a link is okay.)
  • Be friendly and follow netiquette.
  • Prizes are non-transferable; cash payout is excluded.
  • Legal recourse is excluded.

We’re looking forward to a true fireworks display of color! Let’s make the forum so colorful that winter runs away on its own.

A great theme that perfectly matches my ideals. I love color... Diaper Pants Knitting Pattern I love colors for children. These days, many children’s items are made in “neutral” colors: cream, taupe, natural shades, gray.

But what can I say? With a few scraps of bright colors, you can make beautiful things for the little ones. I’m also convinced that if you give little ones two things to choose from, they’ll choose the colorful ones.

Hi,
my colorful project is a bag for my 5-year-old daughter. According to her, her favorite colors are blue and rainbow colors 😊. So, of course, that’s exactly how the bag had to turn out. I drew inspiration for the shape from handmadebykw. I made the strap adjustable with a button and buttonhole. Have a great day, everyone. Best regards

Water Lily Pillow

Technique: Crochet

My color choice: Primary colors in yellow, red, green, and blue (or “girly colors”)

Short story:
This cheerful, colorful pillow was created for a challenge on CP in 2016. The task was to design a piece using the colors of the Crazypatterns logo. The pillow consists of two pieces and is fastened with homemade ball buttons. The water lily in the center is raised and serves as the pillow’s focal point.

I used the snowy weather to really show off the colorful rainbow sweater. It has been in my wardrobe for quite a while and puts me in a good mood and keeps me wonderfully warm. I knitted it freestyle using 4 strands of KidSilk Mohair from Hobbii. The color gradient was created by switching out the individual strands.

I hope you like it.

Oh, how lovely! This is a great idea, and I’m very happy to join in 🤗 (even though my entry would probably have fit well with the last campaign about leftover yarn, too 😅)

Subject / Title
Colorful leftover-yarn socks

Technique
Knitting

My color choice
Leftover yarn of all kinds — the main thing is as colorful as possible 🥳

Short story
Handmade with love and creativity – these cheerful, colorful socks were made from precious leftover yarn that might otherwise have gone unused. With lots of dedication and a pinch of experimental joy, even the finest mohair leftovers were worked into the leg to give this pair a very special touch. Perfect for everyone who loves sustainability and individuality – and knows that the most beautiful projects often come from what others set aside. A true one-of-a-kind piece that not only keeps you warm, but also tells stories! ❤️🧶

Motif: Dino Hat
Technique: Crochet
“My” Color Choice: Bright Shades of Blue

I’d come across this hat online while searching for inspiration, and my little one absolutely had to have it. He chose various shades of blue.
He wore the hat with pride and joy. Always and everywhere. Even in bed 😅
At preschool, people were always asking about the hat and even asked us to make another one. That really warms this little crocheter’s heart.
In any case, you could never miss him, and during the cold, sometimes gray season, the cozy hat brought a smile to more than a few faces...

=18pxHiromi Wrist Warmers
I crocheted lots of triangles and then pieced them together. Then I added cuffs and a thumb hole, and the colorful Hiromi wrist warmers were done. I used sock yarn with mostly red tones.
My daughter’s mother-in-law gave me the sock yarn as a gift. It was tucked away in a bag of leftover yarn. I didn’t feel like knitting socks, and I figured the yarn was far too good for socks anyway—since they usually go unnoticed, hidden away in shoes. I’d crocheted them for myself, but anyone with kids knows how it goes. Now my son is running around in them.

Hi,
it’s just a little something.
I made it using the Irish crochet technique.

And I gave it away soon after.

I just really liked the colors, and it was a great way to use up some leftover yarn.
Plus, it’s a little harbinger of spring—such a cute little flower. 🤩

Motif / Title: Neon Rainbow Virus Shawl
Technique: Crochet
My color choice: The main thing is a rainbow with neon colors.

Originally, the two shawls were intended as casual wraps for the local “Sommerloch” festival (CSD in Braunschweig). The main thing is to show your colors clearly and radiate positive vibes. Of course, this works at other times and without a specific occasion, too.

In both cases, the yarn is Flowers Vivid by Yarnart in color 505, bordered by Metallico by Hobbii in the colors Titanium Blue and Moss Agate. The pattern is a modified “Virus” shawl, in which I’ve essentially replaced all the regular double crochets with post treble crochets. This creates “rays” on one side of the pattern repeat and an arched structure on the other.

I love the gum-gum technique for socks. Here, I knitted together two yarns with different patterns in shades of red—one made of cotton and one of sock yarn. The finished product—fresh off the needles—looks like a cheerful field of tulips and fits perfectly with spring and the theme!

A Cozy Blanket for Dreaming

I’m currently crocheting a cheerful blanket using this beautiful gradient yarn , and to keep things interesting, I’m varying the patterns .
If this color gradient doesn’t lift your spirits, I don’t know what will. It goes from yellow to green, then to turquoise, blue, and purple, with pink rounding it out. I’m using two identical balls of yarn. I’m crocheting the second half separately and will attach it to the already finished half at the end so that it looks like a mirror image.
Size-wise, it’ll be a cozy baby blanket made of soft cotton. But maybe I’ll keep it for myself—especially in winter, a blanket like this that’s not too big feels really good draped over your legs.

What do you think of the mix of colors and patterns?

Title: A Color Explosion to Enjoy

Technique: Crochet

My color choice:
I had a custom gradient cake wound for me and chose the colors and the gradient myself. I wanted something really bright with long color changes.

Short story:
The crocheted tablecloth was meant to coax spring into arriving in 2021—and it did. After so much gray winter, I simply needed color for the soul. And since the flowers in the garden were still taking their time, a colorful tablecloth was needed. This year it will be back on the garden table again, cheerfully welcoming spring 2026 in full color.

Motif / Title: Eye-Catching Tulips
Technique: Crochet
My Color Choice: Bright, vibrant colors with cotton yarn
Short Story:
I generally love bright, vibrant colors. And when everything outside is gray, this eye-catcher shines beautifully in the window.
The tulips in the design are already blooming and ushering in spring.

Title: Cheerful Circus Socks
Materials: Silly Socks by Hobbii - Color: Happy Clown (09)
                Purple socks - yarn unknown
Technique: knitted
My color choice (What lifts your spirits?): colorful, colorful, colorful
Short story: Last winter, I was on a “sock kick” and couldn’t knit enough for all my loved ones (and, of course, for myself). These each hopped off my needles in just two days because the color sections were so cheerful and fascinating and put me in a good mood while I was knitting them.

My color choice: red/white and, of course, colorful

Motif / Title: Butterflies Meet the Little Donkey
Technique (Crochet/Knitting/Sewing?): crochet
My Color Choice (What lifts the spirits?): It had to be colorful; I really need color right now
Short Story: We’re out and about every day, and since the snow stayed on the ground here for quite a long time this year, I needed color now.
Butterflies are always a symbol of a beautiful, colorful time for me, and of course they’re always welcome as decorations

The little donkey was made for a little girl; making wishes come true is so lovely... those sparkling eyes are always the best reward
