Dear community,
did you buy yarn, or did you stay strong? If you're looking for ways to use up your yarn, the Christmas Sale could be a good idea. For later, you can save beautiful patterns on your watchlist / wishlist.
I spotted some discounted felting yarn and spontaneously decided to make a Christmas gift. I finished the first felted shoe yesterday, and I’ll start on the second one at lunchtime today.
Otherwise, all my yarn boxes are bursting at the seams—I have to hold back, which I’m managing just fine. In the neighboring town, our craft store is closing down and everything has to go. And I haven’t been there to shop yet.
Starting in January, a yarn shop will reopen its doors. Unfortunately, it won’t carry haberdashery or fabrics anymore.
I’m trying to hold back on buying fabric for the rest of the year. Christmas discounts are tempting everywhere, after all. But I also feel bad for the poor delivery drivers.
In theory, I have enough fabric to keep me busy… but online, you’re always finding new treasures that end up on your wish list.
I did make one purchase last Sunday, though: The fabric with the little glittery elves, which I used to sew a dress for my granddaughter, was such a hit that I ordered more of it. When you know for sure that the quality is right and you like the design, you can’t go wrong with having a stash.
The fabric is scheduled to be delivered on Saturday—so it took one week to arrive within Germany—that’s just the Christmas package rush for you.
I bought some yarn because my granddaughter wanted—or needed—a scarf and asked for specific colors.
I didn’t have those in my stash.
The scarf and matching hat are finished and can already be worn.
Other than that, I’d also like to work through my stash. I can still make plenty of socks, felted slippers (waving to Petra), and a few other things... I also still have two sweaters on my needles.
I bought several skeins of 4-ply sock yarn with mostly green.
I’ve made it my goal to knit at least one pair of socks every month for the “Green Sock Challenge.”
Other than that, I still have a bobble of turquoise yarn and a smaller one in white waiting to be used. I’ve already bought a nice sweater pattern for those.
There’s also enough leftover yarn for smaller projects.
Let’s see how long I can go without buying any more yarn.🤭🫢😉
