Crocheting Amigurumi with Synchronized Color Changes

Hi everyone!

I keep getting frustrated with color changes—specifically, I’m currently crocheting an otter head in beige with a brown stripe across the nose that curves up toward the forehead. The right side ends up with a different curve than the left.

I’ve watched lots of tutorials that explain how to do a clean color change. I can do that part—it’s easy. But the last brown stitch looks like it’s been left out, while the first brown stitch looks full.

I hope you understand what I mean? Hopefully someone can help me.

No, unfortunately not. I got the pattern from a book, but it’s a general problem for me that color gradients never look synchronized. Sure, this happens because you’re crocheting in spirals and the first stitch just turns out differently than the last, but I wonder how the pros manage it. Why do eye patches look the same?
