Ideas for Creative Gift Wrapping

Do you have ideas for creative gift wrapping, perhaps with upcycling?

I try to move away from paper when wrapping gifts. That keeps leading to new kinds of packaging that can be reused. 

Last year, gummies were given in this tin can

I like to give a book in a book bag

Smaller gifts fit into the sleeve of a men's shirt. Just cut off the sleeve and sew it closed on the cut side. Tie a bow around it and you're done.

And then, of course, bags in all kinds and shapes made from table linens and bedding

 If I don't have suitable packaging, I quickly sew it myself. Thank goodness I also get many of my packages back later and can reuse them. 


 

I don’t have any pictures on hand right now, but I recently saw in an English Christmas movie that you can also wrap gifts with old scarves (headscarves or square neckerchiefs). Just wrap the gift in it, then tie the ends of the scarf into a bow. Done.
I hope that explanation makes sense.

Yes, Andrea, I can definitely see that working. Although I also like to sew those square pieces of fabric into my patchwork projects.

Just for fun, I once wrapped a square gift as a little bag. Just wrap the square gift in wrapping paper. Then fold and glue on two handles. I also folded a strip of leftover paper into a fan shape and glued it on.

I’d love to pick up a few more tips from you. I think the idea with the shirt sleeve is great. I still have a few old shirts lying around here...😉

For Christmas gifts, I once bought some Christmas-themed fabrics in a reduced post-Christmas sale and sewed them into gift bags. They’re now used within our family every year.
