do you currently have lots of scraps / leftover yarn / fabric scraps, or were you able to use everything up?

I guess I’ll never use up everything, but the leftover yarn is manageable. I still have quite a few fabric scraps, too, but I don’t sew very often. As long as nothing is lying around and everything still fits in the closet, I’m happy.

I’m in a similar situation to Veronika… I don’t have a huge stash, but always enough to keep me busy.
My storage space is limited, so I prefer to buy materials on a project-by-project basis.
Just the other day, a friend gave me a bag of yarn scraps that she would otherwise have thrown away.
I’ve already used up the first yarn from it as a top-down raglan for this bolero.
I have no idea what kind of yarn it was—it was really thick and didn’t come with a label—but I crocheted with a size 10 hook until I used it all up.

Those aren’t scraps, :-) they’re materials that will be used up eventually :-) Even if they’re piling up by the boxful, for me it’s mostly fabric :-) With yarn, there’s rarely anything left over—it gets used up in hats and such.

Inge, exactly.
You can always make something out of it, even if it ends up as stuffing.
I had an old Christmas tablecloth with a hole in it, which I used to sew two fir trees.
While stuffing them, the fabric tore several times—it was just too old.
So I brushed the fir trees with liquid concrete and hung them up.
That could still turn into something pretty… we’ll see.

Claudia—sleeveless little jackets like that are really in style right now—I was in the big city this week and saw lots of sleeveless styles there in different materials.
Your little trees turned out beautifully; too bad the fabric tore. But your rescue mission looks exciting.
I’m so busy with Christmas baking right now that my crafting has been completely neglected.

Petra, I haven’t gotten around to baking cookies yet—you’re ahead of me there.
The trees now have stems and a second layer of concrete, but with these temperatures, it’s taking a very long time for them to set.
I’d like to apply one more layer so they’ll be nice and sturdy.
I’ll post more pictures then.
