Stitch definition: how do you make stitches nice and even?

how do you make your stitches nice and even? Do you have any tips?

The key is proper yarn tension, which needs to be maintained consistently.
When crocheting—at least for me—it’s much easier to create a perfectly even stitch appearance. I think that’s because, with crochet, it’s generally not as easy to tell if the yarn tension is slightly uneven. When knitting, on the other hand, even the slightest differences in tension are very noticeable.
Problems usually arise when working stockinette stitch in both right-side and wrong-side rows. Typically, the purl stitches are looser. If you can’t correct this by adjusting the yarn tension, you can use a slightly smaller needle for the row of purl stitches.
With patterns within the rows, it’s usually not as noticeable.
