Quick Explanation: The Gallery Features (Browsing, Liking, Linking)

Hello dear community!

Some of you had questions about exactly how our gallery works, what you can do there, and what cool features there are for designers. We took the time to summarize the most important features for you. Additional features are in development, and the corresponding help articles are still being written. Here’s a brief overview.

The gallery is basically our big shared showcase! Here you can show what wonderful things you’ve made and get inspiration from others. 

For all users: Browsing & discovering 

• Sorting: You can sort the gallery by "New", "Trending" (what is currently popular in the short term), and "Popular" (what has the most likes over a longer period of time).
  
• Commenting & liking: You need to be logged in to like photos (the little heart symbol ❤️) or write comments. You can also reply to other people’s comments and like/dislike individual comments.
  
• Notifications: If you take part in a discussion, you’ll be notified when someone replies to your comment.
  
• Reporting: If a photo or comment seems inappropriate to you, you can report it to the Moderatoren (while logged in).
  
• Hashtags: If you see a hashtag in an image description (e.g. #stricken
  ), you can click it and see all other photos that also use this hashtag. This feature is brand-new, so as of today there are still very few hashtags.
  

For uploaders: Show us your creations! 

• Uploading: When you’re logged in, you can easily upload your own photos.
  
• Describing: You can add a description to your images. Tip: If you use hashtags here (e.g. #häkelliebe
  ), they will automatically be made clickable!
  
• Direct linking: Right when uploading, you can specify which pattern (product) your photo belongs to.
  
• Managing: You can delete or rotate your own images at any time if they were uploaded sideways.
  

Especially for designers (shop owners) 

For you as designers, there are a few especially useful features to connect your patterns with the community’s creations:

• Your "Store Gallery" (Shop Gallery): Each of you has your own gallery page (under .../gallery/store/YourName). This page automatically collects all customer photos that are linked to any of your patterns. It’s perfect marketing and shows at a glance what wonderful things are created with your patterns! • Your "Item Gallery" (Product Gallery): Not only your shop, but also each individual one of your patterns has its own gallery page (.../gallery/item/Product-ID). Only the photos linked to that exact product are shown there. Example of a product: Crochet pattern for trendy baby shoes.
  
• Link photos yourself (the top feature!): Do you find a photo in the gallery from a user that was obviously made from your pattern, but the user forgot to link it? No problem! As a designer, you can link this photo to your product yourself afterward.

Also ich komme mit der neuen Startseite gar nicht klar, bis ich erst finde was ich suche vergeht eine gefühlte Ewigkeit.

Ich finde das neue Design der Galerie und die dazugehörigen Funktionen zeitgemäß frisch und sehr ansprechend. Passend, um unsere Handarbeiten zu präsentieren.

I visit the customer gallery almost every day and really like the new features. Thank you for your work—the gallery has turned out great.

At the moment, photos in the gallery can only be linked to products from shops, right? I think it would be nice if patterns from blogs could be linked as well.
