Crocheting double crochet stitches

Dear community,
What do you like to use double crochet stitches for?

For me, double crochet stitches are the basis for many types of stitches and patterns.

I'm thinking here of granny squares or granny stitch combined with chain stitches. The cluster stitch or bobble stitch is made from double crochet stitches. You can crochet post stitches on double crochet stitches and create a beautiful textured pattern.

I can imagine crocheting a sweater with a high mohair content using only double crochet stitches. 
Just double crochet stitches with a cotton-blend yarn doesn't appeal to me personally at all. A pattern looks more high-quality there, even if it's only chain stitches.

I generally enjoy crocheting double crochets. But I like it when they’re part of a pattern, for example with front and back post double crochets, or in filet crochet. I just don’t find double crochets on their own as visually appealing. 

I don’t really like the look of crocheting just double crochets as a pattern either. But if you work the double crochets of the next row BETWEEN the double crochets of the previous row, it creates a really beautiful stitch pattern.
To do this, instead of inserting the hook into the top of the double crochet from the previous row as usual, you insert it between the bodies of two double crochets. At first, you can pull the double crochets apart slightly with your fingers, but soon you’ll be able to do it accurately without this help.

I really love double crochet because it offers so many variations, such as working 3 double crochets into one stitch and skipping the next stitch.

I also really like crocheting them crossed over. That creates a beautiful lace pattern with texture.
