Happy weekend: what are you up to?

Right now I’m in the middle of decluttering my kitchen—it’s not as easy as it sounds; I need a system. So first, I’m getting rid of everything I don’t need anymore. And that’s where it starts—do I even need baking pans anymore? I don’t bake at all anymore, and I’m not much of a cake eater either—that was my husband’s thing. So should I get rid of everything? Probably yes—I don’t like those crammed-full cabinets; I like having some space between things.
Other than that, I’m still working on the crocheted vest—I’ve lost a little bit of my enthusiasm for it right now, even though there really isn’t much left to do: maybe about 15 cm, and then I’ll crochet it all together. And I’ve started on a little carrot; it’ll be finished by tomorrow at the latest.
Tonight I’m going out with a friend—it’s still beer garden weather, so we have to take advantage of it.

Three weeks ago, we brought a little baby hedgehog to the hedgehog rescue center, and today we were able to pick him up again. He’s eating well on his own. Now we’re hopping around his box, hoping he’ll come out for a meal soon.

He weighs almost 200 grams. 



Tomorrow the animal shelter is having an open house, and the hedgehog rescue will be there too. We’re going to bike over there.

Have a sunny, relaxing weekend together

Today is Sunday—a late-summer day to relax. Yesterday we attended our grandson’s first day of school. It was lovely: the formal ceremony in the morning, followed by a lively party in the afternoon with lots of games, fun, and excitement in the garden. Friends, neighbors, and children were coming and going all day.

There were three first-day-of-school celebrations in the neighborhood that day, so depending on their preferences, adults and children could either blow giant soap bubbles here, snack from the cold buffet there, or sit around a campfire listening to guitar music at a neighbor’s house. Everyone found something they liked and a place they wanted to linger. The weather was perfect, too.
