Dahlia in bloom

Today was my last chance to use my Deutschlandticket, so we combined a train ride with a bike trip and went to the dahlia exhibition at Killesberg (Stuttgart). I can’t even say which one I liked best, but it was a truly wonderful outing—the display of flowers was incredible.

Which one will be the most beautiful? Voting opened yesterday

All the colors and shapes—and even the insects—are in for a treat.

Is there something like this where you live?

A big pumpkin exhibition is also starting soon in Ludwigsburg (which is also nearby). That’s very interesting, too.

Dear Petra,

I love dahlias and am amazed at how many different shapes they come in.
Well, I like the one in the third picture best, and the last one, too. Those are exactly my colors.

Unfortunately, we don’t have anything like that here, but I always buy a bouquet at the market from a woman who has a large garden and sells her flowers there. I’ve often marveled at the beautiful color combinations she creates. That way, I always have a bouquet on my table.

I love dahlias, too—there are lots of different varieties growing at Grugapark in Essen. It’s about time I went back there...

I couldn’t pick a favorite variety; I like them best when they’re all mixed together.
