This simple chenille yarn blanket is a labor of love, a memento of my little nephew, who was born in June in the 22nd week of pregnancy. His heart kept beating strongly in his parents’ arms for over an hour. My sister and her husband had chosen the name Leon for him early on, and they couldn’t have picked a more fitting name—for their little, brave lion ❤️

I used Chenillove by Rico Design for the blanket. I’m not usually a big fan of chenille, but this one was really fun to work with because it didn’t shed at all and the stitches were easy to see. 
The appliqués (the lion and the initials of his name), however, were made from cotton for added detail.

 

Chenille yarn and I aren’t exactly best friends, but I did end up knitting myself a huge, cozy scarf out of a beautiful gradient yarn.
