Hi everyone,
I need some help, please.
I’m crocheting a dachshund (following a pattern from here), which, as you know, has a longer “belly,” so the whole thing starts as an oval with increases at the ends—so far, so good.
Starting around round 5, the darn thing twists completely.
I thought it would “work itself out” once I crocheted/sewed the back together, but no such luck—one leg (the 4th) ends up floating 1.5 cm in the air.
Extremely unattractive!

And it’s already been unraveled again.
I’ve already spent two days searching on YouTube and the internet, discussing it with ChatGPT ;)) and crocheting what feels like fifty-eleven test pieces—I’m stumped and can’t find my mistake.
I’ve even tested whether it’s because I’m bringing the yarn through “the other way around” compared to the YouTube videos. Based on the test pieces, that’s not it.
I’ve been crocheting amigurumi for a long time, but something like this has never happened to me before.
Oh, right—in spiral rounds, the start of the round naturally shifts, but I don’t think that matters yet on row 5.
And amigurumi do have to be crocheted tightly, after all.
Any tips, please?
Best regards, stuka
