Dear community,
Can you use up your yarn stash in this lifetime, or will you need to add more lifetime / an extra life? Your own photos of your yarn stash are always a good idea.

You can find beautiful patterns for using up your yarn here. With store credit discount / prepaid discount and leftover yarn, it always gets more affordable. You can also save patterns for later on your wishlist

Oh well, I could actually manage it if I didn’t keep getting too many gifts in between or buying new yarn myself—and if I live a few more years. I’ll take a look at the pictures tomorrow to see if it’ll work out.

Well, a few extra years wouldn’t be bad...

Definitely not in this lifetime. I have way too much of everything....

  • bought too much
  • been given too much
  • inherited too much

But I’m doing my best not to leave too much behind for future generations.

Good morning!

I’ve been “wool-shopping-abstinent” since January 1, 25—and I haven’t had a relapse yet 😂
I crochet and knit every day, and the kids do crafts and make things with yarn...but the stash just won’t get any smaller 🫣😂
So: I’ll need at least 150 more years of life to ever use up my stash. Or my kids will inherit a very large fortune 😁

It really works for me—here are the pictures:

The sock yarn drawer; there’s another layer underneath, but only 4 skeins.

I also have some glow-in-the-dark yarn:

And here’s the cotton stash:

And that’s it—see, it’s easy!

Well, I’d actually be afraid of my yarn stash running out 😅

then I’d have to give up crocheting for the foreseeable future.... ohhh no. My yarn stash will most likely never really run out 😜😍

So, if I stopped buying yarn, I could work through my stash.

But
..................................but..................

but.............................I just can’t help buying something whenever I see a nice yarn.😉🙈

I gave in again too…

We had a garage sale on Sunday. I found a gorgeous little piece of fabric for fall and just couldn’t walk past it.

If I had a total ban on buying yarn, I might actually be able to do it.

But I always find something I absolutely have to knit 😂😂

😬 I think it’ll last a long time yet... And since there are always house clearouts here and there, it doesn’t really get any smaller even though I’m already trying to hold back... 😬

There’s a big blue trash bag in the attic full of wool I was given, and here in the apartment there are two boxes... I’ll probably have to sort through it and give some away...

Yes, I do think about sorting through my stash and giving things away every now and then. But then a new idea pops up, and I wonder if there’s something in my stash that would work. And time and again, I end up having just the right yarn or fabric on hand, and I’m glad I have my stash.

I’m in the process of using up at least some of it.

I, too, will have to live to be 108 years old before I use up all my yarn. I have 12 large boxes full of it.
This year, I’ve really cut back on buying yarn. At the end of the year, I plan to donate the purchase price of the yarn to the animal shelter.

My husband told me today that I’d definitely have to live to be at least 90 so I can use up all my stash, and outlive him, because he doesn’t want to be stuck with all that stuff 😄.

I keep telling myself not to buy any more yarn, but just imagine standing in a yarn shop and something small, round, and cozy calls out “Mommy” to you.

I’m still holding strong! I haven’t bought a single scrap of yarn this year 😄
And I can still stock at least three stores to the brim 🫣—even though I’m working on using it up every day...
Well, 115 is a nice age, I think—at least for bequeathing the “leftovers” 😂
