Crocheting single crochet stitches

Dear Community,
What can you crochet using single crochet stitches?

Most amigurumi are crocheted with single crochet stitches because the stuffing doesn’t show through as much that way. Pot holders, too—holes in the pattern wouldn’t be ideal there either—basically anything that’s supposed to be a bit “denser.”

For small items to store, I like to use crocheted containers made with single crochet stitches.

For example: for my cell phone—it also protects it from scratches in my purse
—or for my pedometer, which is always hanging from my hip.

I also made a case for my fountain pen. The case is reinforced on the inside with a leather tube.




It’s the perfect way to protect it in my purse. 😊

Single crochet stitches are great for items that need to be firm and sturdy.

You can also use them to crochet individual knitted pieces together very easily.


I crocheted this delicate pattern using single crochet stitches and chain stitches for a shirt. It’s a real eye-catcher.
