Making Juggling Balls

Dear community,
do you have any tips for making juggling balls?

I’ve already crocheted some for my grandchildren. We always use them to play target practice by throwing them into a muffin tin or toss them back and forth. I crocheted them very tightly using cotton yarn and filled them with rice. I also made some filled with stuffing, but they turned out to be too light for constant use. The ones filled with rice are perfect.
