Stitches per Day Without Distractions

Dear Community,
If you have time and can stay focused without distractions, how many stitches or rows can you get done per day?

I don’t count stitches or rows—I count in centimeters. Some days I manage a good 3–5 cm, and other days not a single one :-) It also always depends on what I have on my needles at the moment. Right now, I’m knitting hats like crazy ;-))) :-)) and that’s a great way to make some progress.  Right now I have another one on the needles, this time made from some leftover sock yarn.

Phew, that’s a tough one—I never actually count. It really depends on the length of the rows, too. For the cardigan I was working on recently, one sleeve had about 40 to 50 stitches and about 80 rows—that was no problem to finish in an afternoon. But then I’m always doing something else in between. If I could really focus on it for a few hours without any interruptions, I’d probably get through quite a bit.

Since someone who doesn’t know much about knitting asked me something similar recently, I took the time to figure out some estimates.

  For a size 39 1/2 sock with an 18 cm leg length, it takes me about 8 hours.

With the vest I’m working on right now, I’m getting about 500 stitches in 15 minutes using a simple pattern.

But I couldn’t keep that up for a whole day—I’m not a machine, after all. And the fun and relaxation would fall by the wayside, too.
